Chief Physicians Qi Hongbo and Guo Shuliang at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University Selected as “National Outstanding Physician”

Recently, the list of the first batch of “National High-Level Medical Talent Program” was announced by National Health Commission. Dr. Qi Hongbo, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and Chief Physician of Obstetrical Department and Dr. Guo Shuliang, Chief Physician and Director of the Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Department, were selected as “National Outstanding Physicians”.

This inaugural High-Level Medical Talent Program was jointly organized and implemented by the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Finance. The first batch of candidates includes 100 "National Outstanding Physicians" and 200 "National Excellent Young Physicians". The program aims to select and cultivate a group of clinically leading talents who are both morally and professionally excellent, have superb medical skills, can successfully diagnose and treat difficult and critical diseases, have profound academic attainments and international leading capabilities, and are recognized by peers. This will provide a solid talent guarantee for the construction of Healthy China. 

In recent years, by sticking to the goal of focusing on disciplines and talent development and fostering new quality productive forces, and promoting the modernization of hospital governance systems and capabilities, and driving high-quality hospital development,the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University adheres to the strategy of “strengthening and revitalizing the hospital through talent”, providing strong talent support for the creation of national regional  medical as well as for promoting high-quality development. 

National Outstanding Physician Dr. Qi Hongbo

Qi Hongbo, Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Medical Doctor, Doctoral  Supervisor, Vice President  of First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Director of the Chongqing Key Laboratory of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.. Dr. Qi is the acting Chairman of the Perinatal Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Selected Member of the National "New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten-Thousand Talents Project", National Middle-aged and Young Expert with Outstanding Contributions, Outstanding Contribution Expert of the National Health Commission, Fifth Chongqing Labor Model and Advanced Worker, Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Branch of Chongqing Medical Association, etc. etc. For three consecutive years, he has been listed in the Global Top 2% Scientists list jointly released by Stanford University and Elsevier. With over 30 years of medical experience, Dr. Qi Hongbo has made remarkable contributions to the treatment of critically ill pregnant women and the technological advancement of maternal-fetal medicine. He has deep expertise in the treatment of high-risk pregnancies such as twin pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, placenta previa, and various fetal malformations.

National Outstanding Physician Dr. Guo Shuliang

Dr.Guo Shuliang, Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Medical Doctor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Department at First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Dr. Guo is a National Young and Middle-Aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, a member of the National Health Commission’s Emergency Medical Expert Group, a review expert for national major science and technology projects and National First-Class Curriculum Leader. He serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Respiratory Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA), Vice-chairman of the Tuberculosis Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Deputy Director of the Chongqing Key Laboratory for Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Major Respiratory Diseases. For a long time, he has been dedicated to the treatment of critically ill, difficult, complex, and rare disease patients, initiating and developing 14 innovative diagnostic and treatment technologies at home and abroad to address major clinical challenges. He has established national influence in fields such as 5D respiratory intervention, pulmonary vascular intervention, tuberculosis intervention, and transbronchial cryopulmonary biopsy. Chief Physician Guo Shuliang has long been at the forefront of treating major public health emergencies and has been awarded the titles of "National Health Commission Outstanding Contribution Middle-aged and Young Expert," "National Anti-Epidemic Advanced Individual," "National May 1st Labor Medal Winner," "2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Torchbearer," and "Outstanding Individual in Dispatched Chinese Anti-Epidemic Medical Expert Groups" by the National Health Commission.
