The Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery at First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University was established in 1987 and was recognized as the “Chongqing Aesthetic Surgery Center” by the Chongqing Municipal Health Bureau in 2002. The department has established a high-quality diagnosis and treatment platform for plastic surgery, operating across two main centers - Yuanjiagang and Jinshan Campuses. The department offers a comprehensive range of plastic surgery, wound repair, soft tissue reconstruction, laser treatments and cosmetic injections.
The department is staffed by over 40 medical professionals, including 10 senior-level specialists, 7 master supervisors, 3 post-doctoral fellow, 8 doctor degree, and 8 master’s degree holders. It is a nationally recognized member of the Plastic Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Aesthetic and Cosmetic Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. Additionally, the department is an accredited center for master’s and doctoral degrees in surgery (plastic and burn surgery), and a standardized training base for orthopedic and plastic surgery residents in Chongqing. To date, over 200 master’s students in plastic surgery have been trained here. The department has also attracted high-level young talent through Chongqing Medical University’s elite recruitment programs.
Over the past decade, the department has successfully performed over 100,000 plastic surgeries and provided hundreds of thousands of cosmetic laser treatments, earning widespread recognition within the industry and among patients. It has received numerous honors, including “Top 10 Aesthetic Surgeons in Chongqing”, “Good Doctor Emulating the Spirit of QIAN Hui” at First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, “Surgical Expert”, and “Golden Scalpel Award for Young Surgeons”. Through exceptional patient care, the department has become a “Five-Heart Excellent Nursing Unit”. It has actively participated in national and municipal research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, departmental and postdoctoral funds. Additionally, faculty members have contributed to several authoritative monographs in the field.
